🔧 Help Me Build

Should I go for it?

Hey guys need some help here making a decision. This is going to be a long one sorry lol. I’ve been saving to get my car retuned for the parts I’ve been gathering and have had on stash for a little while now. Every time I have enough money to tune it. I wind up adding more to the list of parts 😂 kind of like what I want to do right now 😅. I’ currently pretty much have enough money to get tuned now, but I’m debating pushing it off a bit longer to upgrade my turbo and fuel system. I currently have in my possession a Grimmspeed 3 port ebcs, Fujitsubo elh, HKS high flow cat, AEM water/methanol injection, Koyorad racing radiator, AA Performance tgv and egr delete, and a Perrin turbo sump restrictor waiting to be installed. My main issue I guess is not wanting to pay to tune multiple times for the additional parts. I also don’t want to be underwhelmed after finally installing and tuning for the parts I already have. I currently feel like I know without upgrading the turbo after a fairly short period of time I’ll more than likely be wanting more. Even with the turbo it probably won’t be long before I’m wanting more 😂 but until I’m ready to build a closed deck block I will be at my limit for a while. So should I bite the bullet and upgrade my turbo and lpfp now and then tune? Or just send it with what I have in my garage and start saving for the turbo and retune again after? I’m worried I’m going to kick myself in the ass and regret it if I’m underwhelmed after the upgrades I already have and have to pay to get tuned twice in a short time span if I don’t just do it all at once. Buy once cry once right? Currently looking at the Tomioka (Gen II) DCBB Dual Ceramic Ball Bearing Turbo which is good up to 600hp(leaving headroom for the future when I can afford to build a closed deck block). My goal is around 350-400whp right now. Without the turbo this isn’t a realistic number without pushing the factory turbo and fuel system to it’s limits. The turbo will cost me about 2500 and push me back till end of summer before I can afford to tune. What do you guys think go all out or no? PFA

Honestly man, I think deep down you already know the answer 😂

If you’re already sitting there thinking “I’m probably gonna want more right after the tune,” then there’s a really good chance you will. Especially with the part list you already have. That setup’s solid enough where the car is absolutely gonna wake up, but once you feel it, your brain’s immediately gonna start wondering what the bigger turbo would feel like.

And honestly paying for tuning twice in a short window hurts way worse than waiting a little longer and doing it all at once. That money adds up FAST once you start stacking dyno time, revisions, labor, etc.

That said… there’s also something to be said for actually ENJOYING the car now instead of permanently living in “one more part” mode. A lot of us get stuck there and accidentally spend 2 years building a car we barely drive because we’re chasing the “perfect” setup before ever having fun with it.
