Need a tuning cable!!!

I wish Tactrix would up and announce that Openport 3.0 is being released but I’m not holding my breath! Anyone have a recommendation for Opensource tuning interface cable? I’ve tried a couple clones and they both fried on me even though I double checked the drivers and kept the laptop in airplane mode!

If you’ve fried two clone interfaces already, I’d stop throwing money at clones and troubleshoot the hardware side before trying another one. Airplane mode and correct drivers won’t protect an interface from poor voltage regulation, bad USB isolation, or incorrect pinouts. For open-source tuning, look into Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 for supported vehicles and software, or ECU-specific interfaces supported by the open-source tuning platform you’re using. Open-source software doesn’t automatically mean the cable itself is open source, and compatibility depends on the ECU, protocol, and software. Before plugging another interface in, check the vehicle’s OBD-II port for abnormal power or grounding, inspect the cable for shorts or incorrect pin assignments, and verify USB power and driver compatibility. A proper bench setup and a current-limited power supply can help isolate interface issues without risking the vehicle.
