Trouble with MidNight
Well fam tuning on Friday didn’t go smoothly. First problem was a pretty stupid one from a simple oversight. After burping my coolant system the rubber gasket from my no spill funnel was left behind in the top of the radiator. During the first highway run on my new base map the upper radiator hose blew off and I dumped all my coolant. Luckily I was right by an exit with an advance auto seconds away. After reconnecting the radiator hose and going to fill her back up realized the rubber gasket was there not allowing pressure to bleed off causing it to blow the hose off.
Aside from that the first few data logs went smoothly. I did two 20+ minute city driving logs and two 20+ minute highway driving logs as well as a couple idle logs. I did my 1st 3rd gear wot pull data log and that went well too. On my 4th tune revision and my second 3rd gear wot pull I ran into a couple issues. 1 my lambda was erratic and I got a p0302 cyl 2 misfire.
After some investigation found a split vacuum line and sorted it out and attempted another 3rd gear pull. Lambda was now stable but cyl 2 misfire happened again. Inspected plugs and coils everything checked out well so I swapped cyl 2 and 4 to see if the misfire would follow the parts and unfortunately it did not.
I decided to remove my intake manifold thinking maybe the connector for cyl 2 injector might have been disturbed when I took the manifold off for intake valve cleaning. Everything looked good though so I pulled the injector to inspect and it had a significant amount of carbon build up so I replaced it hoping that was my issue.
Unfortunately after getting it all back together and attempting the pull again I still got a cyl 2 misfire. At this point I would like oscilloscope testing of injector #2 and coil #2, injector current ramp analysis, ECU injector command verification, ECU ignition command verification, continuity testing between the ECU and injector/coil.
Unfortunately I don’t have the tools for this kind of diag work. If I had the time I could do a compression and leak down test to rule out mechanical failure which I would do but at this point I’m out of time as this is my last week in CT before moving to FL the following week.
Im really hoping it’s not a mechanical failure because at this point I’m tapped out and don’t think I have the money for a major repair. Also midnight was in great shape with no issues getting into boost and never had a cel for a misfire before the upgrades. Feeling pretty defeated atm. May have to bring my car to a shop when I get to Florida for proper diag. Anyone know of any good performance shops in central Florida (preferably a Subaru specialist Kissimmee area)?

Man, that really sucks after all that work. I’m hoping you can get it back up and running soon! 🙏
