A little scope creep over the weekend

Power steering rack on my SC was going out so I finally got around to replacing it and throwing in some poly bushings. Buuuuut while I was at it I rerouted the lines to the factory hydro fan cooler since it's been deleted in favor of e-fans. And for better access to all that I took the bumper off which then lead to the thought "hey why don't I mock up the new bumper so I can get the mounting holes drilled before I paint?"

Which then lead to "well the bumper's off, why don't I mock the new fenders up?"

Luckily I ran out of time before getting that far but the new bumper is gonna be real nice once it's painted!

welp

So to start off I had this post in the wrong channel so I moved it here. Long story short I had dropped my Z off at a autobody shop to get a polyurethane Nismo V2 front bumper installed (got it for the durability) and when I went to go pick it up after it had been at the shop for 24 hours and had been sitting all day the next day, went to start it and my engine started knocking I sat there confused and it started to run normal after it had warmed up, I got to a intersection and all of the sudden my "Check Engine Soon" light started flashing followed by my V6 turning into a V5 when I got back to my house I ran a engine scan and it came back as cylinder 3 was misfiring so been fixing that

Hopefully it ends up being something simple on cylinder 3 like coil pack, plug, injector connection, or maybe something got bumped loose while it was sitting at the shop. The fact it smoothed out after warming up at first almost makes it sound ignition/fueling related more than anything catastrophic, which is at least a little reassuring.

First time powder coating

Finally got my FMIC for my subie. Wasn’t a fan of the black pipes and gray intercooler. So I went chrome. Now I just need a day to install it

Now it makes sense why you had some much extra time to shake that booty on reels, just waiting for the powder coat to bake lol

What’s something on your car that only you notice… but bothers you every time you see it?

Everyone else thinks the car looks great.

But you know 👀

What is it? ⬇️

Spray paint sucks

Got the new wheels home and popped one of the center caps out to take a closer look. I THOUGHT they were generic black plastic caps or had the original TRD badging torn off. Nope! Under a thick layer of black spray paint, the original gold foil TRD logos are still there and in good shape. I just need to sand the paint off, smooth them out, and polish them. I'm pumped not to have to go on another wild goose chase to find factory center caps!

Hell ya! That’s a win!

It took a year but I finally found them!

These may not look like much, and they definitely need refinished. But like the title says, I've been looking for a set of these wheels for a year now.

These are a TRD option wheel that was briefly offered for the Scion xD, tC, Toyota Matrix, and Corolla Sedan and, as far as I can tell, they were discontinued in 2011. Digging around the internet for information turned up a few ancient forum posts with broken photo links and one article from 2008 stating in no uncertain terms how silly it would be to buy the $2000 "upgrade" TRD wheel option for that year's Corolla. And that seems to have been the general consensus at the time. Good wheels, but why would anyone buy them for the cars they were offered on? As a result it seems like demand was low and very few of them actually made it into…

What’s a part sitting in your garage right now that you haven’t installed?

Why is it still sitting there?

Project Matheal update 🖤

Enjoy this snow day photo 🤣

So after pulling my motor months ago and watching my fuel injector just fall apart completely, and waiting on the IRS to give me my tax refunds, WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS NOW!!!

Finally going to tear the heads off and reseal the motor completely. Checking my pistons before I seal him back up for the new fuel system. Hopefully by Friday I’ll have all the rest of my parts ordered. The goal is he’s back on the road by the end of the month. Then gonna start repairing my widebody (I hate fiberglass), mount it and wrap him for the time being. I’ve also been redoing my engine harness at home, so that it’s a lot cleaner looking

Goal power is roughly 420-450. My Tuner is super confident I’ll make that safely on stock internals. Then start saving for the IAG 750 Long Block…

I probably find a good one for u

What part of your car are you most proud of right now?

Not the biggest mod — the one that makes you happiest when you look at the car.

Could be:

• Wheels

• Engine bay

• Interior

My wheels and wrap. Those wheels had been hard to find when they first released and I got super lucky. It’s the two things that make my car unique and catches people attentions. And definitely makes me smile every time I see her.

What part of your build took the most patience?

• Waiting on parts

• Saving money for one upgrade

• Learning how to install something yourself

• Fixing mistakes from the previous owner

• Redoing something because it wasn’t good enough

My first one for the season is this weekend and im missing it 😭

My favorite shitbox 🖤

Hey all, been kind of quiet on this app in general, was hibernating over the winter and accumulating parts for all of my vehicles (other build progress posts on them to come). My most current build project is my most invested vehicle (which also happens to be my daily because I don't make smart choices lol), my '05 OBXT. I'm redoing very likely the entire suspension because I think multiple things are going out simultaneously. I have ordered all control arms front and rear, front and rear CV axles, end links front and rear, tie rods, struts, x4 wheel bearings, and I'm sure more I've lost track of. Never done this extensive kind suspension work but I like to dive right in so wish me luck!

Maintenance work is key to a strong build! Keep it up!

New decals! 🤙🏼

Had to get custom color for the wheels and the regular white wasn’t gonna cut it 😊💙🤙🏼(purple oil slick)

What part of your car are you lowkey embarrassed about right now?

We all have something 😅

• Peeling paint

• Mismatched panels

• Interior mess

• Engine bay

Two of my wheels need some attention. One had some top coat peeling and another I curbed this winter after hitting a patch of ice. Unfortunately BBS won’t/can’t provide a paint code and these RA wheels go for around $1,500 a dang pop!

What’s something on your build that you’ve been saying

“I’ll get to it eventually” for way too long?

We all have that one thing.

• Small cosmetic fix

• Interior issue

• Wiring cleanup

Seat re-upholstery

What’s the most satisfying mod to finally install?

• Wheels

• Coilovers

• Turbo / power upgrade

• Body kit

• New steering wheel / interior

Head lights the the red eye effect made the car look like it’s trying to stare you down really awesome

Mitsubishi GTS

Me and my son along with my dad are working on a 2008 Mitsubishi gts 5spd we have done a few basic tune up to it have a new bumper and lights coming to install going for a aggressive stock look any ideals is much appreciated

I would say a great first step is getting fitment dialed in. Have you looked into suspension yet at all?

What’s one mod you did that made the biggest difference in how your car felt?

Not the most expensive — the one that changed the car the most.

Maybe:

• Coilovers

• Better tires

• Angle kit

Honestly the coils and the wheels the lowered look just changed how it looked and how it felt for my car changing the bumper and the spoiler changed it so much and made it feel more unique to me even though they were all oem parts for different models

Progress.

Just some progress pics. A little bit at a time. Tip is how I picked it up last year.

I’ll probably keep with the two tone, the paint definitely needs some love so honestly all options are on the table!

Build Progress roll call

What part of your build took WAY longer than expected?

• Wiring

• Engine swap

Gotta find the motivation to get back on it. Need to change poly to sphericals, re align it, cross balance, tweak the coilovers, etc. Still need to pick up a quick trick setup and some leveling stands:/. Honestly, there’s more that I need to get started on, but motivation level is pathetic:/
